The Adult Calendar

I'm not sure about everyone else, but going from being a child and having events planned for me to being a young adult and having a fun, but more open calendar, wasn't bad at all. Then, moving into being an adult with a full-time work schedule, managing a household, being single or being in a relationship, and starting a family-- it's so different when you try to plan things.

As a young adult, I could meet up with friends and family a couple of times a week; last-minute plans were completely fine and actually doable. Not to mention, staying out late on a work night didn't matter. It wasn't because I was young (that was definitely a factor for my energy levels and recovery time), it was because my schedule allowed it. Things were flexible and consequences weren't the same.

Now, as an adult with all the above-mentioned things, I am lucky to plan things at a minimum of 2-3 weeks out if not longer. This is not only doctors' appointments, house maintenance/projects, but family and friend time as well. This isn't a bad change, but it does amaze me how many people who also have active lives can't manage to or aren't willing to put something on the schedule for a month out. It actually shows who waits to see what better offer comes along, and who is interested in seeing you.

On the adult calendar, I need to plan around bills, paychecks, gardening, animals, daily household chores for upkeep, etc. When I go too long without the gym, I feel it, when I let the dishes sit, I smell it, when I don't sleep enough, I am a raging B****. Just a relatable life shit that most of us go through at some point or another.
